How to Enrol
Your child can start Prep at the beginning of the school year if they turn five on or before 30th April in that year. By law, all children must be enrolled in school by their sixth birthday. When to start your child at school is an individual decision. You may want to discuss this with us or with your child’s preschool teacher and health care professionals.
Enrolling your child into school is a big decision and it is important that you make an informed decision. We welcome you to tour our school and meet our Principal, Christian Smith, to discuss your child’s needs and how Manifold Heights Primary School can best cater to them. Prep school tours are available from March at 9:30am on Tuesdays and Fridays. Please complete the Enrolment Enquiry Form below to arrange a school tour.
The Department of Education has a statewide Prep Enrolment Timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child into Prep at a Victorian government primary school, including Manifold Heights Primary School. You can find information and resources about the enrolment timeline at Enrolling in Foundation (Prep).
If you are wishing to transfer your child from another school into Grades 1 – 6 please complete the Enrolment Enquiry Form below to arrange a meeting with the Principal.
Enrolment forms will be emailed to families once an Enrolment Enquiry Form has been completed and proof of permanent residence (100 Point Residential Address Check) has been provided. Please refer to the Residential Address Checklist.
Our School Zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined based on your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.
For more information about our school zone, please contact our school. For answers to frequently asked questions about school zones and enrolling in Victorian government schools, visit School zones.
Enrolment Restriction
Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). Approved entry criteria for our school are:
- students who live within the school zone
- students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
- students seeking enrolment on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.
All students seeking enrolment at our school must meet one of the above criteria to be eligible for enrolment.
The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary for the subsequent school year.
